At 15, I began performing in coffee houses and writing songs. In 1971, I made the final cut for my high school's year-end Show of Shows concert. The director would ask me at each round of the audition process if I had brought in different music. I just kept telling him I rewrote it, but actually I was just making it up. My performance on stage that night was another rewrite. I sat at a 9-foot grand piano under a flood of pinks, blues and oranges—dressed in a tie-dyed velour pantsuit—and played music I would never play again. In the spirit of that passing moment under the floodlights, and my desire to honor the wonderful being known as Baratta, I recorded this live music for meditation.

I sat with two synthesizers and a tape recorder, and just played what came to me, using various combinations of synth patches to help make my live recording as full and rich as possible. The music is meant to take you on a journey, beyond relaxation into the depths of emotional realness, healing, connection to the divine, and spirited pleasure. |
